How it works
01

Upload your photo

Drop in a JPG, PNG or WebP file, or click to browse. It stays on your device the whole time.

02

Click a color, pick its replacement

Click anywhere on the photo to select the color you want gone, then choose the new color - the swap happens live.

03

Fine-tune & download

Adjust match tolerance and edge softness until it looks right, then download the recolored photo instantly.

ℹ About the Recolor Image tool

Unlike a global hue shift, this tool changes one specific color at a time. Click on the photo to sample the color you want gone - a shirt, a wall, a car, a background - then pick what it should become. Every pixel that's close enough to your sampled color updates; everything else stays untouched.

Match Tolerance controls how wide a range of shades counts as "the same" color - raise it to catch highlights and shadows of the original color, lower it to be more precise. Edge Softness blends the transition so the swap doesn't look cut-out. Keep Original Shading preserves the photo's natural light and shadow on the new color instead of flattening it.

Free Online Image Recolor Tool

imgxcolor's Recolor Image tool swaps one color for another inside a JPG, PNG or WebP photo - directly in your browser, with no software, no file uploads and no cost. Click the color you want to change, pick a new one, and download the result.

It's useful for changing a product's color for an e-commerce listing, swapping a wall or car color in a mockup, or fixing a color that clashes with the rest of a design.

Match Tolerance & Edge Softness

Match Tolerance (0–100%) sets how far a pixel's color can be from the one you clicked and still count as a match - low values target a single precise shade, high values sweep up lighter and darker variations of it too. Edge Softness (0–100%) feathers the boundary between changed and unchanged pixels so the result blends naturally instead of showing a hard, jagged edge.

Shading-Aware Color Replacement

With Keep Original Shading switched on, the tool replaces the hue of the matched pixels while keeping each pixel's original brightness - so folds, highlights and shadows on the recolored area still look three-dimensional instead of a flat, pasted-on color.

Privacy - 100% Client-Side

Every pixel comparison and swap runs locally with JavaScript and the Canvas API. Your photo is never uploaded, stored, or transmitted, which makes this tool safe for client work or personal photos. There are no accounts, sign-ups, or usage limits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does recoloring my image upload it to a server?

No. Picking a color, replacing it and rendering the preview all run entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your photo is never uploaded, stored, or transmitted anywhere.

How is Recolor Image different from the Image Color Changer?

The Image Color Changer applies a global adjustment - hue rotation, saturation, a tint - to the whole photo. Recolor Image targets one specific color you click on and swaps only that color, leaving the rest of the image unchanged.

Why didn't every pixel of the color I picked get replaced?

Compression, lighting and shadows mean a "single" color in a photo is really a range of similar shades. Raise the Match Tolerance slider to catch more of that range, and raise Edge Softness for a smoother blend at the boundary.

What file formats can I edit and download?

You can recolor JPG, PNG and WebP images, and download the result in any of those three formats regardless of the original.
