Free Online CMYK to RGB Converter

imgxcolor is a free, browser-based tool for converting images between color spaces. The most popular tool — CMYK to RGB — is available right at the top of this page: drop your image, choose a target RGB profile, and download the result in seconds. No software to install, no account required, and your files never leave your device.

Whether you're a graphic designer bringing print artwork to the web, a photographer converting scanned TIFF files, or a prepress professional preparing digital proofs, imgxcolor handles the conversion accurately and for free.

All Color Space Tools in One Place

imgxcolor offers a full set of image color space conversion tools:

  • CMYK → RGB — convert print files to sRGB, Adobe RGB (1998), ProPhoto RGB, ECI RGB v2, or PAL/SECAM
  • RGB → CMYK — prepare screen images for print using FOGRA39, FOGRA51, SWOP, or GRACoL profiles
  • Color Space Converter — convert between any two RGB profiles directly
  • Color Picker — inspect any color in HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV, CMYK, Lab, LCH, and YCbCr simultaneously

Why Convert CMYK to RGB?

CMYK is the color model used by physical printers — ink on paper absorbs light to create color. RGB is the model used by screens — red, green, and blue light combine to produce color. Files created for print (brochures, business cards, packaging) are typically in CMYK and must be converted to RGB before they can be displayed accurately on screens, published to social media, or used in web-based workflows.

Without conversion, CMYK images often look washed out, overly dark, or color-shifted when viewed on a monitor.

ICC-Accurate Color Math

imgxcolor uses mathematically accurate color transforms based on ICC profile primaries and standard transfer functions. Conversions go through CIE XYZ as a neutral intermediate space, with Bradford chromatic adaptation for profiles on different white points (such as ECI RGB v2 on D50). This is the same approach used by professional color management systems.

All processing happens in your browser using JavaScript — no server, no cloud rendering, no data collection.

Supported Color Profiles

  • sRGB — the universal standard for web, social media, and consumer devices
  • Adobe RGB (1998) — wider gamut for photography and professional print workflows
  • ProPhoto RGB — widest gamut, used for high-end photo archiving and retouching
  • ECI RGB v2 — European prepress standard, D50 white point
  • PAL/SECAM — European and Asian broadcast television (BT.470)
  • FOGRA39 / FOGRA51 — ISO coated CMYK standards for European printing
  • SWOP v2 / GRACoL 2006 — North American CMYK print standards

Output Formats: PNG, JPG, TIF

After conversion, download your image in the format that suits your workflow:

  • PNG — lossless, transparency support, ideal for web graphics and logos
  • JPG — smaller file size, great for photographs where load speed matters
  • TIF — maximum quality, no compression artifacts, preferred for print-ready files and further editing

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert a CMYK image to RGB online for free?

Use the converter at the top of this page. Drop your CMYK image (JPG, PNG, TIFF, etc.), choose a Target RGB Profile (sRGB for web, Adobe RGB for photography), select your Output Format, and click Convert. Your converted file downloads directly to your device.

Is it safe to convert confidential images here?

Yes. All conversions run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your images are never uploaded to any server, never stored, and never transmitted over the internet. The tool works offline once the page has loaded.

What's the difference between sRGB and Adobe RGB?

sRGB is the universal standard for web content and consumer devices — it covers about 35% of visible colors. Adobe RGB (1998) covers roughly 50% of visible colors and is used in professional photography and print workflows. For social media and websites, sRGB is always the safest choice. For print-to-screen photography workflows, Adobe RGB preserves more of the original color range.

Can I convert a CMYK TIFF to sRGB PNG?

Yes. Upload your TIFF file using the converter above, select sRGB as the target profile, choose PNG as the output format, and download the result. The tool supports TIFF, JPG, PNG, WebP, and BMP as input.

Why do colors look slightly different after converting CMYK to RGB?

CMYK and RGB have different color gamuts. Some colors printable in CMYK — especially vivid cyans and some greens — fall outside the sRGB gamut and are clipped to the nearest in-gamut value during conversion. Choosing ProPhoto RGB or Adobe RGB as the target profile can help preserve more of the original color range.

What is ECI RGB v2 and when should I use it?

ECI RGB v2 is the standard RGB working space defined by the European Color Initiative. It uses a D50 white point and an L* transfer function, making it particularly well-suited for European prepress and publishing workflows that use ISO-coated CMYK profiles. Use it when your final destination is a European print job using FOGRA39 or FOGRA51.

Does imgxcolor support batch conversion?

Currently imgxcolor processes one image at a time. For batch workflows, you can repeat the conversion for each file — all processing remains client-side and there are no usage limits. Batch conversion support is planned for a future update.
